Hit 40 55 Has some movement in the hands and body as he sets up. Upright in the box from both sides. Short load and level, line-drive plane; barrel stays in the zone. Will show good barrel exit. Very good hand-eye coordination; knows the zone, but has some bad-ball hitter in him and thinks that he can hit everything.

Raw Power 30 40 More gap/doubles power than HR. Generates backspin on his line drives; shows more carry, gap potential from left side. Very strong, will pop a few to pull, but HR's not a big part of his game.

Run 45 45 4.33, 4.27 HP-to-1B from left side; 4.37 from right; short, athletic strides; gets to full speed quickly. Runs well underway. Fringe average right now; not a base stealer. Could score from first base on a double.

Field 45 50 Athletic, strong hands, has chance to improve. Has a high target and hands gets noisy; lots of movement during delivery. Sits side-saddle and tends to reach at pitches; has trouble getting to, and framing, the down/away pitch; turns body. Drops to left knee on any off-speed stuff, and has a small weight shift forward which makes it hard to get body in front of anything to the sides. Quick to knees on anything directly in front.

Throw 60 60 Quick release, good footwork; carry and finish through the bag with little to no tail. Snap throws behind runners with accuracy; aggressive thrower.

Overall Summary
Compact, switch-hitting catcher with a chance to hit and provide some offense as an every-day catcher. Has potential on the defensive side; plus arm and strong hands, but has some trouble blocking anything to the side; gets lazy at times, will have mental mistakes. Is said to have above-average marks for pitch framing, but he has some noise in the hands and does not look comfortable receiving when he has to reach in front of, or across, his body. Still just 20 years old and athletic enough to make some adjustments, but not sure he'll become an above-average defensive catcher. Contact guy with some bat speed and bad-ball ability; will find the gaps and runs well for the position. Likely ends up as average defensively; has to stay behind the plate, as the bat plays down if he has to change positions.
