Player Notes
The first debutante this season to have seen action at all four of his team's full-season clubs leading up to his debut, the Texas A&M product has seen limited pro time but has made the most of it. Tabbed by Baseball America as the Braves' No. 18 prospect, the former USA Baseball Collegiate National Team standout reliever moved into a starting role for A&M in 2015 and lasted four games with an 0.47 ERA before undergoing Tommy John surgery. He still was a high-round draft pick and rehabbed that summer and most of 2016 before making his short but impressive pro debut that summer, combining for a 1-0 record and 1.30 ERA in 31 games between Rome, Carolina (High A) and Mississippi, striking out 47 while walking 11 in 35 innings. He throws a plus fastball in the mid 90s, a plus slider and an above-average cutter.
