Player Notes
Bummer, drafted out of the University of Nebraska, had very few innings under his belt before his recall after suffering an elbow injury late in his 2014 debut season which required Tommy John surgery and sidelined him until part of the way through 2016. After having posted a 2.45 ERA in 16 games in relief at Great Falls (Rookie) in 2014 with 28 strikeouts against six walks in 22 innings, he came back to combine for a 1-2 record and 4.86 ERA in 15 games between theRookie Arizona League, Great Falls and Winston-Salem in '16, striking out 18 and walking seven in 16 2/3 innings. A non-roster invite to camp this past spring, he still ranked No. 21 on Baseball America's Top 30 coming into 2017 thanks to a fastball that sits consistently in the low-to-middle 90s, and has touched 99mph, and a plus slurve.
