Debut Details
April 2, in a 7-3 win over the Yankees. The third of five pitchers, he allowed two hits and one unearned run without getting an out. Coming on in the top of the ninth inning with a 7-2 lead to replace reliever and RHP Danny Farquhar, the first batter he faced, Chase Headley, singled to left field and Aaron Judge then grounded to third, but third baseman Evan Longoria made an error on the attempted force at second. Aaron Hicks' subsequent line drive single to short loaded the bases at which point reliever and RHP Alex Colome came on to replace Pruitt. The Yankees' Chris Carter then hit a sacrifice fly to left field to score Headley with the unearned run.

Player Notes
Signed out of Houston for a $5,000 bonus, Pruitt looks like a pretty good deal as he became the first official "debutante" of 2017. He led the International League in starts in 2016 at Durham and led the Rays' organization in starts and innings pitched. His numbers there closely mirrored his 2015 season at Montgomery (Double-A) where he went 10-7 with a 3.09 ERA in 26 games, including two complete games, striking out 122 and walking just 38 in 160 innings. Baseball America lauded him for having the best control in the International League as well as in the organization coming into 2017. He brings a career 3.33 ERA over four pro seasons with him. His fastball hovers around 90 mph to go with a 12-to-6 curveball and a workable changeup.
