Debut Details
June 3, in a 10-1 loss to the Tigers. The third of four pitchers, he allowed four runs, all earned, on three hits in one-third of an inning, walking one without striking out a batter. Coming on for right-handed reliever Chris Beck to start the bottom of the eighth, he gave up a home run to left field to Justin Upton. Nicholas Castellano drew a walk and Alex Presley singled to center moving Castellanos to second, before Jose Iglesias doubled to left to score both baserunners. After Andrew Romine lined out to left, Goldberg was relieved by right-handed reliever Gregory Infante who, after retiring Alex Avila on a groundout, surrendered an RBI single to Dixon Machado which scored Iglesias to close the book on Goldberg.

Player Notes
Drafted out of Ohio State in 2013, Goldberg is a career reliever who saw time this spring on the staff of the surprising Team Israel in the 2017 World Baseball Classic. In 2016, he led the organization in games between Birmingham (Double-A) and Charlotte, going 3-5 with a 2.70 ERA in 47 games and collecting 10 saves, striking out 51 and allowing 26 walks and 46 hits in 56 2/3 innings for a .223 batting average against. In 2015, at Winston Salem (High A), he'd gone 1-4 with a 2.97 ERA and converting 11 out of 12 save attempts in 39 games, fanning 58 in 57 innings.
