Player Notes
The University of Arkansas product came into the 2017 season ranked No. 9 among MLB.com's Top 10 minor league third basemen and third on the Marlins' prospect list. An outstanding defensive player with a strong arm, he's a smart and selective hitter who projects for decent power as well. He can play first, second and outfield if needed, but he has such promise defensively at third that that may not be necessary. In 2016, he combined between Jupiter (High A) and Jacksonville to hit .265 with 11 home runs and 65 RBIs in 135 games after batting .235 at Jupiter with eight home runs and 62 RBIs in 132 games in 2015. He opened his pro career in 2014 by hitting a combined .300 with 11 home runs and 49 RBIs in 59 games between Batavia (Short-Season A) and Greensboro (Class A) in 2014.
