| May 27, in a 3-0 loss to the Nationals. Pinch-hitting for left-handed starter Clayton Richard with two outs and no one on in the top of the seventh, he struck out swinging against Nats right-handed starter Stephen Strasburg to end the inning. |

| Cordero has nothing to be ashamed of when it comes to striking out in his first MLB at-bat, since he had plenty of company that night, as Nats starter Stephen Strasburg fanned 15 batters in his seven innings of work. A converted shortstop who moved to the outfield full time in 2016, his comfort at his new position was reflected in his numbers as he hit .290 with 11 home runs, 54 RBIs and 23 stolen bases as well as an organization-high 16 triples to go with 24 doubles for a .444 SLG in 137 games between Lake Elsinore (High A), San Antonio (Double-A) and El Paso. He also posted a 5-for-5 game with El Paso earlier this month. He has a plus arm and plus speed as well. |
