Player Notes
Originally drafted by the Cubs out of Brigham Young University, Hanneman was snapped up by the Mariners on waivers and brought right to the big leagues. A Hawaii native whose carrying tool is his speed, he missed the second half of the 2016 season but had stolen 26 bases in 74 games at Tennessee, where he'd been hitting .247 with 10 home runs and 30 RBIs. He had 24 steals between Myrtle Beach (High A) and Tennessee in 128 games in 2015 and 37 steals in 124 games between Kane County (Class A) and Daytona (High A) in 2014. His defense and speed are his two plus tools as he has minimal power and his arm may be better suited to left field.
