Player Notes
The Australian native brings a career .283 average over 10 seasons into his major league debut, after hitting .307 with 50 RBIs at Rochester in 2015. Signed at age 16 by the Twins, he missed all of 2006 due to a shoulder injury and finally made his pro debut in 2007 in the Rookie-level Gulf Coast League. He’s seen his share of good international competition, having been a member of both the 2009 and 2013 World Baseball Classic squads for Australia and was a team leader, going 6-for-12 during the qualifying phases for the upcoming 2017 tournament. An International League All-Star in 2015, this was his fourth season in a row with the Red Wings, having hit .276 with two homers and 47 RBIs there in 2014, and .298 with 21 RBIs in 2013.
