Debut Details
April 11, in an 8-4 loss to the Marlins. Pinch-hitting for right-handed reliever Mike Foltynewicz in the seventh inning, he struck out swinging against right-handed reliever Kyle Barraclough but the third strike was a wild pitch so he reached first safely. He moved to third on a single by outfielder Ender Indiarte but was left stranded. |
Player Notes
When outfielder Matt Kemp landed on the DL, the Braves opted to bring up the versatile Camargo as a bench player rather than one of their more lauded "infielders of the future," leaving them to continue their development every day in the minors. A Panamanian international sign back in 2010 who spent all of the next season on the DL, he has only three games above Double-A under his belt and doesn't bring a lot to the offensive game with only some extra-base power and minimal speed, but he has a very capable glove, plus defense around the infield, and should be useful in that 25th man role. He was a Carolina League All-Star in 2015 when he hit .258 in 130 games at Carolina (High A). |
