Player Notes
Drafted out of Catawba College in Salisbury, N.C., Jankowski was summoned to bring his plus slider into the Astros' bullpen mix. He's spent his last two full seasons, 2015 and 2016, at Fresno with strong numbers and was off to a shining start in his third go-round there. In '16, he went 2-3 with a 3.77 ERA in 51 games, including two starts, striking out 103 while walking just 31 in 71 2/3 innings, scattering 54 hits for a .206 batting average against. The prior summer he'd gone 8-3 at Fresno with a 3.47 ERA in 55 games, striking out 77 and walking 34 in 62 1/3 innings. The Astros have clearly always liked the right-hander as they originally drafted him in the 34th round of 2008 as well out of high school in Pennsylvania before he opted to head to college in Carolina.
