Debut Details
April 8, in a 6-1 win over the Athletics. The last of five pitchers, he started the ninth inning, relieving reliever and LHP Dario Alvarez, who had pitched the eighth. He allowed one run on two hits in one inning, striking out two without walking a batter. Out of 23 pitches, 14 were for strikes. The first big-league batter he faced, Rajai Davis, doubled to center field and then moved to third when Hauschild threw a wild pitch. Davis scored the lone run of the inning on a single to center by Marcus Semien. Hauschild then struck out Matt Joyce looking. After Semien stole second base, Ryon Healy flew out to left field and Khris Davis struck out on a foul tip to end the inning.

Player Notes
Raised in Dayton, Ohio, where his dad was the long-time media director for the University of Dayton (his dad's alma mater as well), Hauschild was selected from the Astros in the 2016 Rule 5 Draft and shifted from one Texas-based team to the other. Bringing a 3.50 ERA over five pro seasons into 2017, he comes off of a 2016 Pacific Coast League All-Star campaign at Fresno (Triple-A) where he went 9-10 with a 3.22 ERA in 24 games, finishing fourth in the league in ERA while leading the organization in starts (24) and innings (140). Throwing a low-90s fastball and a changeup, he also has a cutter and a slider in his arsenal.
