Player Notes
Signed away from the University of Southern California out of Mater Dei High School in Santa Ana, McMahon gave up a chance to play for the Trojans for a $1M-plus signing bonus and he has slugged his way to the majors pretty quickly. Ranked No. 9 in the system by Baseball America coming into 2017, the former high school quarterback has seen time at both corner positions and has been improving his defense at his newer spot, first base, Though he hit just .242 in 132 games at Hartford in 2016 with 12 home runs and 75 RBIs, he bashed for 18 home runs and 43 doubles at Modesto (High A) in 2015, hitting .300 with 75 RBIs and a .520 slugging percentage after hitting .282 with 18 home runs, 102 RBI's and 46 doubles for a .502 SLG in his first full season at Asheville (Class A) in 2014. Overall, including his .321 average in his pro debut at Grand Junction (Short-Season A) in 2013 and his hot summer of 2017, he's combined to slash .297/.367/.509 during his career thus far. His home run power is just a tick above average for his corner positions, to which he is pretty much limited, but his ability to hit for average and extra bases makes up for that.
