Debut Details
June 24, in a 6-3 loss to the Angels. He pinch-ran for catcher Christian Vazquez and did not score. With the bases loaded and two outs during a ninth-inning rally, Vazquez had struck out swinging but reached on a wild pitch by reliever Cam Bedrosian allowing Andrew Benintendi to score and Vazquez to reach first, reloading the bases with the potential tying run at first. Lin came in to replace Vazquez in that situation but they were stranded when pinch-hitter Chris Young struck out swinging to end the game.

Player Notes
The first Red Sox player this year to skip past Pawtucket (Triple-A) and make it right to Boston from Portland (last year Andrew Benintendi and Yoan Moncada had the same honor), Lin is a speedy middle infielder whose bat has made big strides in the first two months of this season. After hitting just .223 with two home runs in 108 games at Portland in 2016, and, in fact, combining for six home runs in his first five seasons, Lin was one shy of his career homer total when promoted and was coming off of a five-hit game just three nights earlier. The MVP of the World Junior Championship tournament in 2010, he has good speed on the bases as well, with his 23 steals in 2016 a career best.
