Player Notes
Let's start with your likely first question: It's pronounced "VINCE-ee," according to the Reds (and I totally trust the Reds' media team). A 2016 Gold Glove winner in the minors, he's a nifty-fielding shortstop who was the country's top collegiate defensive shortstop at Pepperdine when he was drafted in 2012 as well as the WCC's Defensive Player of the Year that spring. At Pensacola (Double-A) in 2016, he hit .281 with three home runs, 47 RBIs and seven steals along with 24 doubles in 121 games and before that slowly but steadily worked his way, a level at a time, through the Cincinnati system. He will never be a big power hitter or speed demon but his bat is fine and his glove is his calling card.
