Hit 40 50 Short, upper-cut swing; quick twitch; strong wrists and forearms. Will have his fair share of whiffs with the bat plane being short through the zone, but has a knack for finding the barrel when he does make contact. Ability to hit to all fields. Susceptible to breaking balls from RHPs, especially with two strikes, but continues to improve his approach at the plate.

Field 55 60 Quick first step and good closing speed. Moves well laterally and takes direct angles to the ball. Should be an above-average defender in right field. Still needs to improve on his ability to going back on balls, but moves well in all other directions.

Throw 60 60 Plus arm strength. Clean arm action and ball carries well on a line. Accurate enough to play well in right field and cause runners to second guess taking the extra base.

Overall Summary
Five-tool player with potential to be an impact, middle-of-the-order bat. Short, manufactured body with above-average athleticism that translates into average-or-better tools across the board, including his double-plus raw power. Makes consistent, hard contact but is susceptible to breaking balls due to his extreme uppercut swing and below-average plate discipline at present. O'Neill had a breakout 2016 season at Double-A Jackson, and he continued to make strides in the Arizona Fall League with his plate discipline, striking out less and walking more frequently. O'Neill displays above-average defensive tools with quick first movements and anticipation. He has the ability to cover the gaps and down the line. Comparable profile to that of Kole Calhoun (RF, Angels) at the major league level, only with bigger power potential.
