NOTES FROM THE FIELD, ARIZONA FALL LEAGUE:

  • Average height, some width to frame, strength in shoulders and lower half, softness in middle.
  • High effort operation, only from the stretch, L3/4 slot with short, slingy arm action and stiff landing. Finishes off-line.
  • FB 91-94; Average velo out of pen, hard tailing life is asset, inconsistent command, leaves up and out over plate.
  • SL 85-86; Inconsistent; flashes hard late bite to get chases. Will get sweepy, doesn’t throw in zone with regularity. Fringy pitch. 
  • CH 80-82; Below-avg, slows arm and doesn’t have fade.
  • Not a strikethrower; erratic with fastball and slider is a chase-only pitch.  

SUMMARY: Quality movement on FB and SL allows him to be effective vs. high minors hitters. Lack of strikethrowing ability and poor command limit ceiling to organizational depth.
