Prospect Spotlight

NOTES FROM THE FIELD, ARIZONA FALL LEAGUE:

  • Short, slight, wiry frame. Twitchy and athletic, though undersized and lacking physicality.
  • Slappy hitter w/ contact-oriented approach. Not looking to drive the ball. Line drives both ways, has the wheels to net some extra hits.
  • Surprising loft to pullside in BP for a no-power bat, though doesn’t translate to games. Singles hitter, occasional gap sting.
  • Plus runner, slap-and-dash approach allows him to get out of the box well and accelerate up the line. Consistent SB threat.
  • Speed translates to OF, covers ground defensively w/ quick defensive stride. Playable in all three OF spots, though not true plus in CF.
  • Average arm, fair strength and carry. Showed accuracy and willingness to hit cutoff when needed.

SUMMARY: Older player, AAA grinder who is ready to get a shot at the big leagues. Ceiling of 5th OF (FV 40), can enter games at any OF position and provide defense and speed late in games. Will wind up a 4A guy if the bat gets knocked out of his hands at ML level.
