Prospect Spotlight

NOTES FROM THE FIELD, INSTRUCTS:

  • Short, stocky frame. Thick and muscular build. 
  • Slow-paced semi-windup, strong back-leg drive and finish. Thwack and recoil at finish, some effort throughout.
  • FB 94-98 (95-96); Plus velocity, heavy ball with occasional run. Limited command, muscles up for velo and sprays the zone.
  • CH 81-84; Lots of separation off FB, but slows arm and floats the pitch to get it. One-planer that runs out of the zone. 
  • Strikes with FB in best sequences, though battled consistency and got wild in sequences. Limited feel for any off-speed.

SUMMARY: Strong guy with plus arm-strength, not a lot else right now. Mid-90s velo and heavy life is notable, but won’t be a prospect until control or secondary pitches step forward.
