Solarte has interesting tools and performed in his DSL pro debut last season, good value for a player that signed for only $10K. His 6-foot frame is quite muscular, appearing more physical than his 165-pound listing. A switch-hitter, I saw Solarte more from the left side in a quick backfields look. He squared a few balls with a smooth swing, finishing with natural leverage and balance. He posted average run times—4.2 to 4.3 down the line—and though DSL stats don’t mean much, his 27 steals last year (and 10 failed attempts) show instincts and a willingness to run. Still just 18-years-old, he’s an interesting FV 35+ follow who could put himself more firmly on the map with a strong stateside debut.
