NOTES FROM THE FIELD, INSTRUCTS:

  • Short and stocky frame, muscular throughout. Listed at 140 lbs. but is much broader than that. 
  • Semi-windup with moderate effort, overall operation looks better suited for relief. 3/4 slot.
  • FB 89-92; Down a tick after first full pro season. Have seen to 93-94 in the past. 
  • SL 79-83; Best pitch and separator, lacked the same crispness during instructs. Was upper-80s hammer this season.
  • CH 80-83; Third pitch, working on it during instructs. Turned over a few with a hint of dive. Will drop it in ‘pen role.
  • FB/SL are primary pitches, wrinkled in more CHs this look in an effort to get reps w/ the pitch. 

SUMMARY: Saw a few times during regular season and again during instructs. Ceiling of middle reliever who matches up mostly against righties and combats same-side bats w/ FB and SL. Stuff was down in September look. Could wind up a 4A guy without carry pitch.
