Drafted out of Orangewood Christian School (Maitland, FL), the Puerto Rico-born Nido represented his home island in the 2017 Sirius XM All-Star Futures Game as part of the World team. Known as a contact hitter with good raw power, he's also respected as a strong defensive catcher who excels at calling a game and has a plus arm. In 2016, he hit .320 with seven home runs and 46 RBIs to go with a .459 SLG in 90 games at St. Lucie (High A) and has moved steadily through the Mets' ranks since signing in 2012. |
