Player Notes
A member of Team Mexico in the 2107 World Baseball Classic, Gallegos has developed his repertoire of a mid- to high-90s fastball, low-80s curveball and usable changeup as a third pitch to absolutely dominate upper level hitters over the last two seasons. In 2016 he averaged 12.2 strikeouts per nine innings as he combined between Scranton/Wilkes-Barre and Trenton (Double-A) to go a remarkable 7-2 with a 1.27 ERA in 42 games, collecting four saves and striking out 106 batters in 78 innings while walking just 17 and scattering 48 hits for a .175 BAA. The previous season, climbing the ranks from Tampa (High A) to Trenton to Scranton, he was 3-1 with a 1.71 ERA in 35 games, striking out 64 while walking just nine in 63 innings, allowing 41 hits and limiting batters to a .183 BAA.
