Player Notes
John Fulboam Brebbia took the scenic route to make his surprising debut with the Cardinals. Originally drafted out of Elon University in North Carolina by the Yankees back in 2011, he signed late that summer and spent the next two seasons playing at the lower levels of the system, making it as high at Tampa (High A) before being released after the '13 season. He spent the next two summers playing in the independent American Association for the Sioux Falls Canaries and Laredo Lemurs before signing with the Diamondbacks as a minor league free agent on September 21, 2015. However he never actually played a game in the Arizona system, being acquired three months later by the Cardinals in the minor league phase of the Rule 5 Draft. In 2016, he combined to go 5-5 with a 5.03 ERA in 43 games between Springfield (Double-A) and Memphis, striking out 68 and walking 19 in while allowing 82 hits in 68 innings.
