Coming on to start the top of the ninth inning in relief of right-handed reliever Liam Hendriks, he gave up a home run to right field to Carlos Beltran, then got Yulieski Gurriel to pop out to shortstop and Alex Bregman to pop out to foul territory behind first base. He then hit Jake Marisnick with a pitch but with George Springer at bat, Marisnick was caught trying to steal second base to end the inning.

Player Notes
Brady actually came to the Marlins as a light-hitting infielder, but during his first pro season in the Rookie Gulf Coast League was hit in the face by a pitch which ended his season. When he returned, a brief attempt was made to try him out as catcher but he knew immediately that was not for him. Having had some success as a two-way player as an amateur, he asked the Marlins if they would let him convert to the mound and the rest, albeit eight years later, is history. The well-traveled Brady was originally drafted by the Marlins out of Cal-Berkeley and spent five seasons in the system before being designated for assignment at the end of 2014 spring training. Signed just days later by the Angels, he spent the 2014 and 2015 seasons with them before being dealt to the Nationals on December 10, 2015, with RHP Trevor Gott in exchange for SS Yunel Escobar and cash. After declaring minor league free agency on November 7, 2016, he signed with the A's just over a week later. In 2016, between Harrisburg (Double-A) and Syracuse (Triple-A) in the Nats' system, he combined to go 3-6 with a 2.89 ERA in 18 games, 12 of them starts, striking out 72 while walking 13 in 81 innings, allowing 72 hits. He had his breakout season in 2013 at Jacksonville (Double-A) when he posted a 1.53 ERA and 23 saves for the Suns, striking out 55 and walking just nine in 53 innings, while allowing 42 hits.
