Player Notes
Gomez began his career as a catcher in the Giants' system in 2012. He spent three seasons in the Dominican Summer League before finally getting an opportunity to play Stateside in 2015. Gomez hit .319 for Salem-Keizer in 2014 to put himself on the Giants' prospect radar. He posted an .882 OPS between Class A Augusta and High A San Jose in 2016, earning himself a spot on the Giants' 40-man roster in November. Defensively, Gomez transitioned from catcher to infielder in 2015 with a move to third base. In 2016, he added first base and second base to his resume. This season, he has played second base exclusively in Double-A prior to being recalled.
