Overall Summary
Right-handed reliever with ability to get stretched out, but will see his well-below average command and control play down his average fastball. Fastball gets tail to both sides and some sink; should get more ground balls than he does; movement starts early; erratic in the zone and pitching behind often; consistent good swings against it. Curveball is best secondary; can throw for strikes. Big shape, out early; arm action plays it up slightly, but inconsistent, and not using it when down in the count plays against usability. Circle changeup gets soft, gradual fade to arm side; use to lefties. Slider is fourth pitch; loose, sleepy break and lacking depth; below-average pitch. He works quick when he's right, but very inconsistent, and has trouble repeating the arm slot and release point. There is some athleticism there, but he lacks an out pitch, and does not pitch down in the zone enough to take advantage of the sink on the fastball. Best suited for short stints out of the pen, but lacks matchup stuff. Swingman role at low-to-middle minor league levels.
