Prospect Spotlight
  • Short, lithe frame; room to fill out a few pounds in upper-half. Athleticism gives chance to start despite lacking ideal size.
  • Clean, athletic semi-windup; loose arm-stroke, plus arm-speed; 3/4 slot.
  • FB 92-96 (94-95); Effortless velo will take another step with strength gains. Hard sink. Doesn’t extend consistently enough to routinely command to the lower-third, though can make delivery adjustment. Potential for plus FB with development.
  • SL 80-82; Wildly inconsistent, though showed flashes of spin and finish down in the zone at best. Needs to sharpen break and how often he gets good action on the pitch.
  • CH 89-90; Crude third, lags behind FB/SL. Will need significant refinement to make a ML quality pitch. 
  • Projects to throw strikes with fastball; based on current feel for secondaries, likely lands with fringe average control in rotation.

SUMMARY:  Electric arm, limited feel or consistency for off-speed. Just turned 18-years-old. Floor is two-pitch power reliever with big FB and avg SL. Give him every chance to develop in the rotation so he can work on his CH and overall pitchability/strikethrowing.
