Overall Summary
Jones mixed all three of his pitches well throughout his start, relying heavily on his curveball later in the game. He showed ability to locate his fastball to both sides of the plate, but velocity was not sustainable as he went deeper in the game. In the first few innings, the changeup was firm and lacked feel, but he flashed a few better ones as the game went on. To compensate for lack of fastball velocity in later innings, he primarily used a changeup and curveball to keep hitters guessing. Jones was able to throw his curve for a few called strikes and showed the ability to make inexperienced hitters swing and miss on pitches in the dirt. Showed an ability to field his position with few nice plays coming off mound. He's an organizational arm that can fill the back end of a rotation at the Double-A or Triple-A level, as he continues to develop a third pitch.
