Prospect Spotlight

NOTES FROM THE FIELD, ARIZONA FALL LEAGUE:

  • Large athletic frame, moves well for his size. Built like Jayson Werth.
  • Shows approach and feel for the zone but also whiffs a lot. Unorthodox stance with deep crouch and bent upper-half cuts off his natural leverage; uncoils and extends early causing inside length. Needs to make some changes to get the bat more directly to the ball.
  • Shows flashes of above-average raw power, present mechanics limit barrel control and how often he gets to it.
  • Plus athlete for his size that moves well underway. Slower up the line, takes a few steps to get going.
  • Playable in both corner OF spots. Long, fluid defensive strides cover a lot of ground.
  • Enough arm to move between LF and RF.

SUMMARY: Physicality and power/speed toolset make him a prospect, but don’t see enough future hitting ability for everyday ABs on a corner. Ceiling of platoon regular or bench bat with power if he makes enough contact. High-minors pitching will be a good test.
